| C I E L V E S C O V O Ciel Vescovo, aged fifteen, Heir Apparent to Vescovo House, has spent most of his life indoors. He is, in fact, the youngest child of the current Vescovo Don, and does not carry this weight lightly. His mother, having suffered greatly through her pregnancy with the long awaited heir, gave light to him on a cold January morning. When the doctors laid him in her arms, she doomed the child to a life of irony played out in his name: he would carry the name of the sky he would barely ever see, and through the name Vescovo his rank and future role would afford him nothing but the best in everything. It is a fine wonder, through all of her years of smothering, that the boy did not end up a hypochondriac. At age fifteen, Ciel is coming along nicely into adulthood. With startling cobalt eyes and coal-ash hair, he commands his position as Vescovo royalty with much more dignity than his fair-haired sister, Sharpay. Ciel is a ruler, in the tradition of the kings of old. Having spent most of his young years abroad, learning the languages and skills that his mother deemed necessary, he has returned to Reggio Calabria for the summer and some time with his family and beloved mother. |
H E I R A P P A R E N T His seclusion and the absolute reverence that most people in his life treat him with have left the young prince with an air of self-serving arrogance; and unlike some he has the wit and the intellect to back it up. Ciel is a skilled manipulator, decisive with the viciousness that only children can have and has yet to feel regret in his short fifteen years. He is shrewd, older than his physical age in some ways, but still suffers some of the “follies” of childhood: he has an absolute, undeniable sweet-tooth and still fawns over certain toys, such as toy trains, which he has many of. There is no doubt, as his teachers and mentors would write back home over the years, that the boy has the ability to become something great, to excel in whatever he chooses to pursue. But what they do not include in their letters of praise is their hesitation and fear over what side of the moral spectrum Ciel, the oh so young and unbelievably powerful child, would find himself most comfortable in. |
